Câu chẻ (cleft sentence) là một cấu trúc trong tiếng Anh được sử dụng để nhấn mạnh một thành phần cụ thể trong câu. Khi sử dụng “there” trong câu chẻ, cấu trúc này thường được dùng để nhấn mạnh sự tồn tại hoặc sự xuất hiện của một sự việc, sự vật, hoặc người nào đó.

Cấu trúc của câu chẻ với “there”:

• There + is/are/was/were + noun phrase + that/who/which + clause.

Cách sử dụng:

1. Nhấn mạnh một sự tồn tại hoặc sự xuất hiện:
   • Ví dụ: There is a book on the table that I want to read.
     • Có một cuốn sách trên bàn mà tôi muốn đọc.
     • Câu này nhấn mạnh sự tồn tại của một cuốn sách cụ thể.
2. Nhấn mạnh sự việc xảy ra trong quá khứ:
   • Ví dụ: There was a storm last night that caused the blackout.
     • Có một cơn bão tối qua đã gây ra mất điện.
     • Ở đây, câu chẻ nhấn mạnh sự kiện cơn bão xảy ra.
3. Nhấn mạnh người hoặc vật:
   • Ví dụ: There was a man who came to see you this morning.
     • Có một người đàn ông đã đến gặp bạn sáng nay.
     • Câu này nhấn mạnh sự xuất hiện của người đàn ông.
4. Nhấn mạnh thời gian, địa điểm:
   • Ví dụ: There was a time when I used to play football every day.
     • Đã có thời tôi chơi bóng đá mỗi ngày.
   • Ví dụ: There is a place that I want to visit next summer.
     • Có một nơi tôi muốn đến thăm vào mùa hè tới.

Những điểm cần lưu ý:

• “There” luôn được theo sau bởi động từ “to be” (is, are, was, were, has been, have been,…) phù hợp với chủ ngữ.
• Mệnh đề quan hệ “that”, “who”, hoặc “which” được sử dụng để cung cấp thêm thông tin về danh từ được nhấn mạnh.
